California State of Emergency
Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a state of emergency in six California counties:
1.Los Angeles Orange
2. Riverside
3. San Bernardino
4. San Diego
5. Shasta County due to severe storms.
What is the cause of the emergency: It is heavy rainfall strong gusts, flash flooding, landslides, and dangerous ocean conditions, particularly in burned areas.
Newsom approved the deployment of state resources, including swift water rescue teams, helicopters, fire engines, and emergency workers across the state.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department rescued over 100 individuals from flooding.
A single helicopter rescued 21 people from trapped automobiles. Firefighters saved 20 people, two deputies, and a dog.
The emergency proclamation enables impacted counties to request federal aid for storm-damaged road repairs.
Storm conditions:
Heavy rain and wind lasted till Friday morning.
Snowfall in the Sierra Nevada resulted in chain restrictions on I-80 and Highway 50.
The State Route 89 through Emerald Bay was closed due to unstable snow.
Power Outages: Most were resolved by Friday.
The largest continuing outage impacted around 4,400 customers near Tahoe City.
Storm-related deaths:
A guy in Redding died after becoming caught in floodwaters.
A tree fell on a man in San Diego, killing him.
A woman in her seventies died after being swept into the ocean near Fort Bragg.
Rainfall totals:
Redding: 8.88 inches.
Sacramento: 3.23 inches.
San Francisco: 3.59 inches.
Los Angeles: 2.17 inches.
Auburn (Sierra foothills): 4.91 inches

Sierra Snow Lab reported almost 40 inches of snow in two days, accounting for 79% of the typical annual snowfall. More snow is forecast.
